Spinal Column

Spinal anatomy

The spinal column, consisting of twenty-four vertebrae along with the sacral bone and coccyx, serves as a vital structure supporting torso mobility and safeguarding the nervous system.

This complex system is segmented into five distinct regions: cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacral, and coccygeal, each with a unique number of vertebrae. These structural differences contribute to the varying flexibility and stability across different parts of the spine, influencing susceptibility to injury.

From a rear perspective, the spine typically presents a vertical straightness.

However, when viewed from the side, four distinct spinal curvatures emerge. The cervical and lumbar regions exhibit a "C" shaped curvature, while the thoracic and sacral regions display a reversed "C" shape. The angles of these curves are pivotal in minimizing biomechanical stresses, thereby reducing spinal pain and slowing down degenerative processes.

Dr. Irving Pisarek, with expertise in spinal evaluation and rehabilitation, possesses the skill to discern even subtle spinal abnormalities. The core focus of chiropractic care, as championed by professionals like Dr. Pisarek, lies in alleviating pain, inflammation, and biomechanical stresses while enhancing overall health and quality of life.

Chiropractors, uniquely trained in detecting, treating, and rehabilitating spinal column disorders, stand as the primary healthcare professionals dedicated to spinal health.
