MyoVision, is 'sEMG'
which stands for Surface Electromyography (sEMG).
It was originally developed for use by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) to measure the effects of zero gravity and fatigue on their astronauts when they return from outer space to earth. It is a computerized spinal
examination, which utilizes a sensing device that measures and evaluates
the relative
levels of electrical activity your muscles release when
they are contracting, more commonly known as "muscle tension". Similar in function to an ECG/EKG (Electrocardiogram) which measures heart muscle activity, the Static sEMG test measures the electrical activity of the posture-sustaining spinal muscles. Increased muscle tension is associated with
stress and misaligned vertebr
ae that affect the nervous system; a condition known
as
the “Vertebral Subluxation”.
Think of our MyoVision System as a stethoscope for the spine.
Because
chiropractic focuses on the health and integrity of the nervous system,
it makes sense that we have a way of objectively measure it. Our
MyoVision computerized diagnostic equipment allows us to do just that —
bringing a "high-tech edge" to your chiropractic care. The
multifunctional capabilities of the MyoVision system allow us to
demonstrate the effects of the vertebral subluxation complex (spinal misalignment) in different capacities. Not only can any one, or combination, of the different "tools" of this
system mark an objective baseline of your condition at the beginning of
care, but, perhaps more importantly, can serve as a way to accurately,
and impartially, measure your progress. This helps both of us to know we
are "hitting the mark" in getting the improvement we need to further your hea
lth goals towards attaining optimum health.
The reported levels of muscle tension are recorded in numerical values and by coloured bars, with arrows indicating muscle tone imbalance(s). When correlated with X-Ray and other testing we perform at Advanced Healthcare Inc., the sEMG gives us additional information to help correct the cause of your symptoms.
When
patients present themselves with spinal bones (vertebrae) that are misaligned
(subluxated), their spinal
nerves can become irritated, leading to many
negative effects. By interfering with the communication between the
brain and the body, a Vertebral Subluxation leads to improper
electrical impulses, which can lead to poor health.
At Advanced Healthcare Inc., state-of-the-art computerized sEMG scanning provides Drs.
Pisarek, Gurvey and Brooks with a high-tech tool used to evaluate which specific
areas/levels of the nervous system are being adversely affected by
Vertebral Subluxations.
MyoVision is supported by numerous quality research papers and is
currently the only device, which enables the muscle tension around the
spine to be evaluated in the standing, static posture.
